I have studied with many different artists from many different countries, all of them excellent painters and teachers, among them: Margaret Dawit, Keith Keller, Rigel Herrera, and Carmen Cereceda who was an assistant to Diego Rivera, the great painter and muralist. I am from Chile, and I started painting with oils when I was fourteen. Soon I had my first Show. It was always clear to me that art was an important part of me, that art was what attracted me the most. When I was 18, another artist and I Opened our first gallery, and four years later I chose to move to Mexico to involve myself even more completely in the arts.

I like artists such as Guayazamin because of the dramatic quality in his work, and the fantasy of Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington. I like the hyperrealism of Osvaldo Tiers, and I’m impressed with the photography of Zhang Pen, a Chinese artist, because his work is powerful, dramatic and raw.

Over the years I have been refining my style, which I call Magic Surrealism, and in which I prefer to use oils, especially in earth tones. My art is about human relationships, the connection between human beings in the various magical worlds that we inhabit.

The most memorable of my shows was named “Caldos de Cabeza” (Head Soup). It was here in Mexico in the Chilean consulate, and it was warmly received. My paintings narrate individual anecdotes, which all together speak of an evolutionary process in which all of us are characters in our own life stories over which we have control through our actions. In addition, I have had shows in Chile, the United Stated and elsewhere in Mexico.

My ideas emerge from and flow out of various sources of inspiration, and they naturally combine with my creativity and my work habit. This is the way I live.

Since we have abused everything that nature has provided is, I think that we should become more conscious and work to restore all that we have ruined. We should return to organic foods and to natural medicines.

With my painting I want to send the message that if we can see the magic in the simpler things, we can create a better world.

He estudiado con varios artistas nacionales y extranjeros, todos ellos excelentes pintores y maestros, entre ellos Margarette Dawit, Kith Keller, Rigel Herrera, Carmen Cereceda,  que  fue asistente del pintor y muralista Diego Rivera.

Empecé a pintar en óleo a los catorce años y casi de inmediato tuve mi primera exposición. Siempre  tuve muy claro de que el arte seria para mí la vida, era lo único que me interesaba. Junto con otros pintores a los 18 años abrí mi primera galería y a los 22 viaje a México para introducirme más en las artes.

Me gustan artistas como  Guayazamin por su dramatismo, la fantasía de Remedios Varo y Leonora Carrington, me gusta el híper realismo de Osvaldo Tiers, me impacto la fotografía de un artista  Chino llamado Zhang Peng por ser muy poderosa, dramática y cruda.

En el camino fui afinando mi estilo que puedo definir como surrealismo mágico que prefiero realizar en óleo usando colores tierras. Mi arte habla de las relaciones  humanas,  la conexión entre los seres, todos estos mundos mágicos. Mis bastidores son una mezcla de experiencias reales  de las cuales todos somos parte, tiene mucho de utópica y se muestra con un velo naif mágico, repleto de ilusiones en donde todo es sencillo y fantástico, lleno de esperanza.

Mi exposición memorable se llamó “Caldos de cabeza,” fue aquí en México y el Cónsul de Chile vino a inagurarla –porque yo soy Chilena. Tuvo muy buena acogida  entre el público. Mis pinturas narraban anécdotas individuales,  todas juntas hablaban de un proceso evolutivo en donde todos somos protagonista y actores de nuestras propias historias y de cómo podemos cambiar esas historias con nuestros actos. Además he tenido otras exposiciones en Chile, Estados Unidos y México.

La inspiración es la fuerza que impulsa mis ideas que fluyen naturalmente y se combinan  con la creatividad y el hábito del trabajo; es mi forma de vida.

Puesto que hemos abusado de todo lo que la naturaleza nos proporciona, creo que deberíamos retroceder a lo orgánico, a la medicina natural y tratar de reconstruir lo destruido. En mi pintura quiero llevar mensajes para poder vivir en un mundo mejor.
